Summer Music Concert

On Thursday evening we welcomed parents and friends of the school to our Music Concert in the village hall, this was put together by Mrs West.  The children thoroughly enjoy their Music lessons which happen on a Thursday afternoon.

The concert was opened by the violinists:  Tiegan, Sophie, Sarah and Ted who have been taught by Mrs Hutt. Tiegan had a busy evening as she also played a solo on the piano - ‘The Owl and the Pussy Cat’. We had three groups of children playing the guitar: Herbie, Amy, Oleina, Sarah and Thomas N (group 1) Jay, Charlotte and Darcey (group 2) and Ted and Adam (group 3). Unfortunately Paul Harrison their guitar teacher couldn’t be there on the night but every group played very confidently.

KS2 then took to the stage to show case their beautiful voices and sang a popular song from the recent charts ‘Stitches’ by Shawn Mendes. Following this a performance by KS1 took place, called ‘The Sun and the Wind’. This was narrated by years 3 and 6. Charlotte then sang a beautiful solo ‘Fight Song’ by Rachel Platten, along with Eliza playing the guitar.

KS2 read some summer poetry followed a Brazilian Samba performance by the whole school. Finally to close the concert KS2 sang ‘See You Again’ by Charlie Puth, this featured a solo part from Adam and Hollie who were fantastic.

The Friends committee provided refreshments and whilst this was happening Eliza Gutteridge sang to the audience. Eliza has been in school on works experience previously and she returned this week after finishing her exams. She has worked with the children to prepare for their concert and helped out in Class 2. Eliza is very talented and has a beautiful voice accompanied by her guitar. She really has inspired the children to sing and they have loved practising for their concert with her.

Mrs Smith thanked everyone for coming and the Music teachers for all their hard work. A big well done goes to the children for their fantastic performance.  Donations were put towards Eden Animal Rescue, who are coming into school next week.
