Day Two at Hawse End

After a long day yesterday, we all (mostly) had a good night’s sleep and woke up feeling refreshed and excited. For breakfast, we had cereal to start, followed by bacon, hash browns and tomatoes; vegetarian members of the group had eggs too.

Once we had eaten our fill, we split off into our two groups and walked up Catbells, which is the fell right behind the activity centre. Group 2 walked around the fell before summitting and walking down the ridge. Although it was windy and wet at the top, we worked as a team and kept everybody safe! Meanwhile, Group 1 took a different route and – despite the fact that they didn’t make it to the top – they enjoyed themselves and still experienced the activity of fell walking. Mr. Davis and Mrs. Law are very impressed with everyone’s perseverance and resilience today.

Following a packed lunch - which we had made ourselves - Group 1 went canoeing and Group 2 went ghyll scrambling. We were very tired after the morning’s activities but everyone took part and gave their all.

At the time of writing this, we are about to eat our dinner, finish last night’s quiz and write in our diaries – the children are all looking forward to showing off their writing! Tomorrow, we will be taking part in archery and problem solving, before jumping on the bus home. Behaviour has been impeccable and our Year fives and sixes have been a credit to the school.
