On Friday the children were delighted to be able to invite family and friends to a Pop Up Cafe to celebrate the Harvest. They spent the morning preparing salads, toppings for jacket potatoes and fruit crumbles. The vegetables had been kindly donated by Stephensons of Appleby. Our neighbours at the Three Greyhounds Inn cooked the jacket potatoes for us.
The children laid the tables in the village hall to welcome all the visitors. Donations received by the guests raised £160 for the Upper Eden Food Bank and Macmillan Cancer Support. Lunch was served by staff, governors and parents whilst the children entertained their guests.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and some even had room for thirds of the fruit crumble! After the meal the children performed their traditional harvest song of Conkers.
Thank you to everyone who donated goods, time and money to support two worthwhile causes. It was lovely to be back celebrating with our community.
