School Uniform
School Uniform
At Asby Endowed School we have a compulsory school uniform. Within our guidelines there is plenty of choice to allow children to have a sense of individuality, whilst still showing that they are part of the school community.
In February 2026 we introduced a new, sports-based school uniform:
• Plain black joggers/leggings (or shorts in warmer weather)
• *Asby logo, Royal-blue, round-neck, polyester/breathable t-shirt
• *Asby logo, royal-blue, sweatshirt
• Royal blue polo-neck t-shirt (for non-sports/outdoor activities, or to change into after P.E.)
• Plain black trainers/pumps
• Plain black socks

Benefits for Parents
• Overall cheaper uniform to purchase (and fewer items to buy)
• More hygienic, compared to the same PE kit being kept all week in the PE bags
• Easier/quicker to clean and dry
• No possibility of children forgetting or losing sports kit or uniforms.
Better for Pupils
• Clothing designed for movement makes it easier to sit, kneel, stretch, and engage in outdoor or practical activities without discomfort, which can support focus and reduce fidgeting.
• Activewear and flexible fabrics are often more comfortable for pupils of all shapes and sizes.
• Some pupils feel anxious changing in front of others; removing the need to change for PE reduces stress and avoids negative social situations.
Better for School
• Time saved that would have been used for pupils getting changed
• A consistent “sports-ready” uniform helps pupil’s transition quickly between lessons, particularly outdoor learning, forest school, dance, drama, and classroom tasks.
• A single, consistent look for all active events—sports fixtures, outdoor learning days, enrichment activities—strengthens the school’s public presentation.
We do not encourage children to wear jewellery for school. If a child wears earrings these must be removed for PE for health and safety reasons.
