On Friday, 3rd May Class 2 had a wonderful day in London! Despite the early start from Penrith - 7.00am - everyone arrive in high spirits ready for a non-stop day.
We arrived in London shortly after 10.00am, and headed straight for the underground taking the Northern Line to Leicester Square and Chinatown. We explored the area and even had bubble tea - a first for most including the staff!
The rain did not dampen our spirits as we walked through central London taking in Trafalgar Square, Horse Guards, Downing Street and the Cenotaph. We arrived the Houses of Parliament, in time for a quick picnic lunch.
The tour of the Houses of Parliament, which for many is a once in a life time opportunity, was fantastic! We got the visit the Robing Room, the Houses of Lords, the House of Commons and Westminster Palace, before meeting Lord Haskel, the Deputy Speaker for the House of Lord, for a Q&As session.
After the Houses of Parliament, we visited Westminster Abbey, seeing the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, the Coronation Chair and the Queen's Window, before heading back to Euston Station.
Throughout the visit the children were amazing ambassadors for the school and the staff were very proud of them, with many members of the public commenting on their excellent behaviour on the train.
