Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school!
On Friday the children were inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy. They used natural materials to create their own pieces of art on the school playground.
They used concentric circles and repeated patterns to create some wonderful pieces. When we came back to school today it was amazing how some had lasted over the weekend whilst others had blown away….
Class 1 had a wonderful time when they visited Tom’s shed. The visit was kept as a surprise, and the children were in their element when Tom opened the shed door to reveal a host of vintage vehicles! A great afternoon was had by all, and the children said they would love to visit Tom’s shed again!
The children in Class 1 have been busy this week making and icing Gingerbread Men. They made enough for all the children and teachers in school, and everyone agreed that they were delicious! In true Gingerbread Man style, two of the Gingerbread Men ran away, escaping through the letterbox! Luckily, following a successful hunt around the village, the children managed to find them in the bus shelter, and bring them safely back to school!
Class 1 had a wonderful visit to Mike Addison Optician’s today, learning all about ‘our eyes’. The children had photos taken to check the health of the inside of their eyes. They then tested their eye sight by reading letters from the eye test chart. Fortunately none of the children were prescribed glasses today!
Class 2 have been working hard this half term on writing their own twisted fairy tales based upon Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They published them into their books using their best handwriting and illustrations. Today Class 1 came in and the children read their stories to the younger ones.
In return Class 1 are writing stories based upon the Gingerbread Man. They shared the postcards that the Gingerbread Man might have sent from Lanzarote, Penrith, Inveradale and Scotland. He has been having an amazing time after running away from the old lady who baked him!
