Class 1, Years 3, 4 and 5 had a lovely morning at the Growing Well community gardens at Tebay. They helped to harvest and sort lettuce leaves ready to sell as well as planting sunflowers and enjoying a delicious homemade soup for lunch.
The children from Asby had a wonderful time at UCC today. The day started with making and decorating biscuits, followed by a Spanish lesson! The afternoon was spent in a science lab investigating bunsen burners. As well as learning lots, the children also enjoyed seeing their friends from other local primary schools.
A Y5 pupil from Asby said “ The bunsen burners were new and exciting. We coloured the flames with chemicals”.
Another Asby pupil commented “The best thing was the bunsen burner”.
Class 1 had a fabulous afternoon of sport at Shap CE School with Action Ants and children from Lowther Endowed and Crosby Ravensworth Schools. Each year group competed in a variety of events:
They all tried very hard and we came back with 3 gold medals!
The fruit and vegetables are growing well now, thanks to the recent rain. The children are enjoying the strawberries!
