Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school!
Asby School continue to invite ‘Inspirational Speakers’ into school. This week we had a visit from a local resident and psychologist Karen Royle. She explained to the children what psychology is and how clever our brains can be!
Class 1 had a wonderful time with our local ‘tree expert’ Dan! He explained to the children what evergreen and deciduous trees are and how to identify them. He also explained to the children why deciduous trees lose their leaves in Autumn. We then had an interesting walk around the village. The children in class 1 can now name many of the trees found in Great Asby!
As part of Class 2's History work on the Mayans, they learnt about death masks and in Art the whole school designed and created their own Mayan inspired masks.
On Monday, 15th May both classes had a fantastic afternoon with former world champion, Nat Patterson, discovering all about the skill of playing wheelchair basketball.
On Friday, 5th May, the children, staff and governors celebrated King Charles III Coronation with family and friends from the local community.
We have a wonderful afternoon of traditional races and a delicious afternoon tea prepared by Class 1.
As you'll see from the photos it was a amazing afternoon with lots of fun and laughter.
Thank you for all the families and friends for joining in all the races!
Working alongside Andi Taylor, from NISCU, the children, staff and local community members created this amazing mosaic to celebrate King Charles III Coronation on 6th May 2023.
We can't wait to see it permanently displayed in Great Asby!
