Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school!
On Thursday and Friday Class 2 had their annual bikeability course. Years 3 and 4 learned basic safety on the school playground. Years 5 and 6 went out around the village to use their bike skills on the road.
All of the children were very proud of their achievements.
Class 1 had a wonderful morning at Appleby Grammar School today, keeping fit and making friends! They took part in Basic Moves, alongside over 100 children from local primary schools. The children demonstrated wonderful team work and stamina.
Thanks to all the lovely people who donated at our Harvest lunch. We have been able to get plenty of supplies for Upper Eden Food Bank. This is just some of the things we are delivering this morning.
The Year 6 then delivery our food donations and whilst there they helped date label and pack everything away.
Thank you for telling us all about the work that the food bank does in the local community.
Today, the children headed out to County Durham for a day of abseiling with Wilderness Outdoor Education. They headed up through the fog to the location for the day. Whilst waiting for their turn they had a go at weaselling through gaps in the rock.
Then it was time to take turns at abseiling down from the top. It took a lot of bravery and courage to step over the edge and walk down the cliff. The younger children were so light they had to be assisted down.
The reward for their efforts was to get a freshly cooked bacon butty after eating their own packed lunches! Things taste so much better when eaten outside after doing something that has pushed you to the limits.
Class 1 had a lovely time with the pre-school children from Shining Stars Nursery on Wednesday, 9th November. They made poppies, planted bulbs and had fun playing together! We can't wait for our visit to nursery for Christmas crafts in December!
Class 2 joined with three other schools at Appleby Grammar School to play in a Tri Golf Tournament run by Appleby Golf Club. They were put onto teams with children from other schools to learn and practice some golf skills.
They had to putt and chip whilst using the right amount of control. There were also bonus marks for team work and being good sports.
The children in Class 1 had great fun making Pumpkin Soup. They skilfully cut up the vegetables, cooked them, then blended them into a delicious soup.
This morning the children had a Westmorland Dales storytelling workshop with Crosby Ravensworth school. First of all they heard two local stories including the Orton Dobby.
Our children then had a workshop to tell the tale of the Orton Dobby by acting it out. They had to play the parts of people that had been in the story or as judges. Did they think it was a true ghost story or one that had been made up?
At the end they told ghost stories of their own.
